Fleet Foxes Fans Rejoice!
In a new profile by DISTINCT, a website that highlights “extraordinary creatives,” vocalist/guitarist Christian Wargo revealed that he and Robin Pecknold discussed the idea of getting Fleet Foxes back together during a recent Joanna Newsom show in Los Angeles. This news comes five whole years after the group’s sophomore album Helplessness Blues. Wargo, who has been spending his time as a woodworker and illustrator, assured: “It’s not, like, ‘announced’ or anything, and none of us really knew it was coming, but it’s happening. Possibly unofficially at this stage, but it’s definitely a thing.” In 2014, frontman Robin Pecknold explained that the indy five-piece’s noticeable absence was partially attributed to his desire to go back to school and get his degree from Columbia University. This causes us to speculate (and hope) that there was never any bad blood between members that caused a riff.
The details of what kind of reuinion this will be are still unclear. Will we get an album, a tour, a one-time festival performance? Nevertheless, it’s quite a great excuse to dance around to your favorite Fleet Foxes tune and dream about all this reunion could be.
