The Wanee Music Festival runs from Thursday, April 14th, to Saturday, April 16th. Which means three glorious days of music from Widespread Panic, The Allman Brothers family (Gregg Allman Band, Les Brers featuring Butch Trucks & Jaimoe, Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band, Oteil & Friends, Warren Haynes and the Ashes & Dust Band, Devon Allman), Umphrey’s McGee, Billy & the Kids, the Stanley Clarke Band and so, so much more.

Perhaps you should consider Happy Hour first. That would be Wednesday, April 13th, when you get four blokes from Leeds and five excellent Florida bands. The fab four in question are no strangers to the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park: The New Mastersounds have been regulars for years. Their latest album, Made for Pleasure, continues the NMS tradition of superb recordings.

And about those five Florida bands. Thomas Wynn & the Believers (from Orlando) blend Southern rock and soulful R&B; the band features brother and sister Thomas and Olivia, with harp master Chris Bell close at hand. Crazy Fingers, claiming all of South Florida, plays… well, you know what they play. And they do a great job presenting the music that got most of us started.

JUke (yep, capital U) carves out a little less territory; they are from Miami. Their post-blues vision features Eric Garcia on harp and vocals. The Ben Sparaco Band brings their mix of rock, blues, soul and folk from Coral Springs. Sometimes, Sparaco joins Crazy Fingers on stage. And Bonnie Blue (Jacksonville) has been to the park often as well, including last year’s Wanee. Their rockin’ blues has Southern roots. Warning: Adam Kenneway is a beast on bass.

There you have it: six great reasons to tell your boss you need another day off! You’ll be glad you did. MusicFestNews will see you there!
