Peace, Love & Blueberries: Celebrating the Life of Dallas Bohrer
There are many great music venues in the metropolitan Tampa Bay area, but none is funkier, hippy-er or cooler than The Blueberry Patch in Gulfport. It is a great place to go — just to see it. It is an even greater place to go — to hear music. But, this Saturday (February 27) is much, much more.
Because Saturday is The Peace, Love & Blueberries festival, an opportunity to gather and pay tribute to the late Dallas Bohrer, beloved founder of The Blueberry Patch. In his honor, you will leave your worries at the door and boogie on the dance floor. This will be a very special celebration with four outstanding bands playing in Dallas’ honor.
S.P.O.R.E. is a spectacular quartet from Jacksonville playing “live instrumentated electrofunk jam” with a healthy dose of prog rock as well. they lit up Roosevelt Collier’s Suwannee Getdown with a superb set and absolutely electrified everyone at the Little Econ Love Fest with a stunning late-night performance. S.P.O.R.E. are: Steven Honig, bass; Jeremy Kairalla, guitar; Chris Richard, drums; and Alex Sears, keyboards. Check out their official Facebook page.

Ajeva also had brilliant performances at both Roosevelt’s event and at Little Econ. They recently expanded from an excellent quartet to a sextet and now to a dectet (tentet, whatever). Their ensemble sound is so rich and varied, covering many musical styles. Their new album should be ready very soon. Ajeva are: Reed Skahill, lead vocals, guitar; Skyler Golden, lead guitar; Mark Mayea, keys; Taylor Gilchrist, bass; Dean Arscott, percussion, keys, guitar; and Travis Young, drums. Kela & Nalani Rothrock, vocals; Brandon Martell, trombone; and Nick Bredal, tenor sax, have played with the band recently. Learn more at their official Facebook page.
Row Jomah has been delighting crowds wherever they go. They are regulars on the festival circuit, delivering great music every time, including a fine set at Little Econ. They opened a show for Jukebox the Ghost and Goodnight Neverland February 1st and knocked everybody out. Last year’s album Cat People was a tremendous recording, highly recommended. Row Jomah are: Jason Berlin, bass; Dylan Chee-A-Tow, drums; Austin Llewellyn, keys; Joe Roma, guitar, vocals; and Melbourne Walsh, guitar. Find out more on their official Facebook page.
NoNeed bring the reggae/rock/fusion to the party. They have been playing all over Central Florida, including a pregame show for the Tampa Bay Lightning, and they are headed to the South Cape Spring Break Reggae Festival in March. NoNeed are: Sebastian Tenorio, vocals, guitar; James Harnage, vocals, guitar; Kevin Blume, drums, vocals; Cody Moore, sax, keys, vocals; and Ryan Weiss, bass. Learn more at the band’s official Facebook page.
