Great South Bay Music Festival Announces Killer Lineup
The 9th year of the Great South Bay Music Festival at Shorefront Park in Patchogue, New York, is shaping up to be the festival’s best run yet. The festival has expanded to include a fourth day in the beautiful Shorefront Park, which overlooks the Great South Bay of the south shore of Long Island. Great South Bay is unique because it’s the largest (and really only noteworthy) multi-day music, art & cultural event on Long Island. This year it will be taking place during the weekend of July 16, 17, 18 & 19th.
Today Great South Bay slowly started filling in their lineup; they can always be counted on to provide something for everyone. The fest prides itself on having an eclectic mix of genres that draws a unique crowd of music lovers; they also pride themselves on being family friendly, so there is always at least one children’s band to complement the plethora of family activities that take place on site. This year 311, Lotus, Electric Hot Tuna, The Mighty Mighty BossTones, Chris Robinson, Jefferson Starship celebrating 50 years of Jefferson Airplane and Twiddle along with many more acts that have yet to be announced will take the stage in Shorefront Park.
As a Long Island native, I love having an event that makes me proud to say I’m from here. The island has a lot of negative perceptions surrounding it nationally; even with its close proximity to NYC and many musicians that have come from here, no one thinks of good music or events when they think of Long Island. Great South Bay takes a lot of pride in their location, providing Long Island with something that no one else has been able to offer yet. There are many vendors who sell local goods such as wine from the vineyards out east, food from local eateries and handmade goods. They take it one step further by having the Long Island staple Blue Point Brewery provide all the beverages. Whether you live on Long Island or in the Tri-State area, you really want to be at Shorefront Park July 16-19th! We’ll update this article as more artists are added — in the meantime, early bird tickets will go on sale at 10:00 AM Wednesday 4/15 on Great South Bay’s website.
