Lionhearted: The Story of The Red Lion Pub and How It Nurtured Our Community

Any discussion of the explosion of the music scene in and around Orlando in the past 25 years MUST begin with the story of Rosemarie Camp and The Red Lion Pub in Winter Park. One chapter of the story closed last September when Rosemarie and Pops shuttered the music mecca, but the story has so many important chapters, and finally that story has spilled out on the big screen.

Lionhearted is the new movie about the great contributions that Rosemarie and family made to the community on so many different levels: music, arts, flow, and the powerful sense of family. This Enchanted Forge Production, a film by Andrew Boyd, features the photography of AJ Hége, a great photojournalist from Orlando who tirelessly chronicled the amazing events that were born and sustained at The Red Lion Pub over the years. The initial screening is this evening in a benefit for the Blue Bamboo Center for the Arts.

All the following musicians/groups are featured in the upcoming documentary Lionhearted about the community that was fostered at Red Lion Pub: Evan Taylor Jones, The Groove Orient, Caiti Patton Music, Bothering Dennis, Ancient Sun, Holey Miss Moley, The Skyline, Circa Modo, Harmonica Man and the Sawgrass Band, The Happy Campers, John David Williams Music, Alison Sherberg, Petey & the Ravens, Volcanist and Aaron Fox Marshall. Rosemarie’s son Christian Ryan was responsible for booking these bands and many national touring bands and musical legends.

The afterparty will be at St. Matthew’s Tavern at the Orlando Beer Garden, where the discussion will center on keeping The Red Lion vibe alive for years to come.

For the many unable to attend this evening, we will be sure to keep you updated with opportunities to view this vital film. You can read more about the pub in this article announcing the close.
