Suwannee Roots Revival Festival May Be New, But Its Roots Run Deep!
We were all a little sad when news came out earlier this year that the well loved Magnolia Festival would no longer be held at in Live Oak FL. Fans of the festival had been flocking to the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park for the past 19 years for a weekend of roots music. It was a festival that had become like an annual family reunion for thousands of festivilians. Thankfully we didn’t have to mourn for long because it was soon announced that we would have a new festival where we could get back to our roots!
The inaugural Suwannee Roots Revival Festival will be held October 13-16. Set against the backdrop of majestic oaks along the banks of the historic Suwannee River, it showcases top-notch acts from Bluegrass, Americana, Folk, and Jam. The lineup features headliners Leftover Salmon, Sam Bush, The Wood Brothers, Peter Rowan, and Donna the Buffalo.
There will also be performances by Blueground Undergrass, Jim Lauderdale,Verlon Thompson, The Hillbenders “Tommy: A Bluegrass Opry”, Town Mountain, Col. Bruce Hampton (Ret.), The Mike & Ruthy Band, the Jon Stickley Trio, Sauce Boss, Dread Clampitt, Nikki Talley, Grass is Dead, Ralph Rodenberry & Donna Hopkins, Grandpa’s Cough Medicine, Walter Parks & Lee Hunter, Syzygy, The Applebutter Express, Quartermoon, Sloppy Joe, The New 76ers, Belle & The Band, Acoustic Messengers, Big Cosmo, and the Habanero Honeys.
This premier park has over 500 wooded acres with ample amenities and plenty of activities to explore. There are primitive sites throughout the park and RV hookups, so you have plenty of options when it comes time to set up camp. And of course you can count on campfire pickin’ everywhere! There is just about anything that you need on site, so you won’t have to worry about missing any shows. There is a country store with ice, staple foods, beverages (including beer) and camping supplies in case you forgot the tent stakes or DEET. You can also check out the Arts and Crafts village, rent a canoe, tour the new Tree House or hike the trails down to the banks of the river. You also don’t want to miss the epic jam sessions at The Bill Monroe Shrine and Slopryland! We recommend that you get out and explore the park and enjoy its beauty.
This is one of those special places where people and music come together to create a little slice of heaven. Even the trees are happy. So get your ticket, bring your dancin’ shoes, and make the pilgrimage to the Suwannee Roots Revival Festival for a soul-recharging weekend! We will let you know as soon as the schedule is posted.
